As a recent graduate of Ladies in Blue Virginia PAC's Secure the Seat intensive, we have gotten to know Lakeshia's long history of leading with community in the greater Richmond area, both professionally and in volunteer work. Now back in her hometown of Hampton County, SC, she is running for a county council at large seat and she is definitely one to watch for.
"I wouldn't say I see myself as a politician, but as a change agent with a heart full of hope and love."
Lakeshia lives out her principles of service and being a true friend to her community. She has worked for over a decade in and connected with the Richmond Public School system as an educator and linking lower income families with the supports they need to help their children be academically successful. She has spent countless volunteer hours off the clock supporting Zeta Youth programs, as an instructor for Sports Backers Fitness Warriors program, volunteering with community gardens, and organizing youth robotics leagues.
"Throughout my career, I have strived to lead by example, fostering collaboration, and promoting inclusivity in every endeavor. My ability to listen, communicate effectively, and make well-informed decisions has consistently guided me in navigating complex challenges."
Lakeshia will face two other candidates in a primary election August 27, 2024. Early voting continues through this Friday, August 23, and then primary election day will be next Tuesday, August 27. Know someone in Hampton County, SC? Share this post! More details found at www.lakeshiaallen.com.
