We know the path to running for and winning elected office can be challenging to navigate. LIB VA is committed to supporting Finer Women in developing the tools they need to be successful in advancing to public office. Through our Secure the Seat intensive, LIB VA aims to help build women up who wish to participate in political leadership. By participating in Secure the Seat, you will work with key leaders in the areas of:

• Mapping your political journey - what could be the right office for you?

• Becoming a spark plug through community engagement

• Identifying your political image

• Fundamentals of campaigning and fundraising

• Doing the work - budgets, policies, operating procedures and more

Application schedule:

• November 8, 2023: Applications open (competitive acceptance)

• January 4, 2024: Applications close

• January 5, 2024: Applicants notified by end of day

Workshop schedule (Wednesdays):

• January 10: first session (6 - 8 p.m.)

• January 17: second session (6 - 8 p.m.)

• January 24: third session (6 - 8 p.m.)

• January 31: fourth session (6 - 8 p.m.)

• February 7: fifth session (6 - 8 p.m.)

• February 10 (Saturday): sixth and final session + graduation (12 - 2 p.m.)

 

Participants will network with cohorts across the state. All weekday sessions will be virtual. The final Saturday session will be in person, location to be determined based on the class cohort. Intensive cost is $350. Scholarship opportunity of $125 to offset participation investment is available.
